            mRNA (bases 56-283), clone MH-3; DNA (C57L/6 library; bases 1 to
            55), genomic clone MH-3.

            During development of the prepuberal testis high levels (though
            still four-fold lower than in adult testes) of MH-3 transcripts
            were found at days 17, 24 and 30.  The first day of MH-3 expression
            was day 14.  The activation of the MH-3 gene in male germ cells
            seems to occur at the pachytene stage of meiotic prophase and its
            level of expression is stage-specific during embryogenesis.
