When compared with the second myosin heavy chain from nematode it was observed that the globular head (S-1) sequences are more highly conserved than the alpha-helical coiled-coil rod sequences. No structural domains were found. Intron/exon boundaries were obtained by comparing the deduced amino acid sequence with homologous peptides from rabbit skeletal muscle myosin. The 3' sequence of the end of the unc-54 mRNA covering three introns of the rod sequence and most of the 3' untranslated region was obtained from a cDNA clone of A.R.McLeod.
