<purpose>
The project of the RIKEN CDB Extensive EST Project for Brain
Evolution and Development (BrainEST) aims to develop a gene
database to represent brain evolution and development.
Gene sets involved in brain development and function are
collected from brain, neuronal tube, and related tissues of
a variety of organisms, including sponge, planula larva,
Convolutidae, planarian, arrow worm, squid, lancelet,
lamprey, newt, turtle, crocodile, snake, and chicken,
collaborating with many laboratories. The goal of the
BrainEST project is to provide a fundamental database to
investigate brain evolution and development by combination
with other environmental data.
