The DNA sequence presented below is that of one specific clone, pKK010-85, which was fixed because of the lack of rci gene encoding shufflon-specific DNA recombinase. The results suggest that the shufflon is a biological switch to select one of seven pilV genes whose primary structures at the region proximal to N-termini are constant while those at the C-terminal region are variable (see ref. 1 and 2). DNA sequence in ref.4 is complementary as compared to the present sequence.
