COMMENT     RT-PCR of human hair follicle cDNA has shown that this pseudogene
            is transcriptionally expressed. The putative exon 2 is spliced out,
            and the putative intron between exon 4 and 5 is retained
            in the transcript.  Exon determination was performed by
            comparison with other known human type I hair keratin genes.
