It consists of at least two exons and encodes two proteins which only differ at their carboxy-terminal ends, and it is activated by translocation into poximity with the Ig heavy chain locus. Both the normal and rearranged bcl-2 gene products are expressed in the B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 2 cells. Genomic clone lambda-18-27 contained all the DNA sequences on the 5' of the splice site (position 732).
