            The mas oncogene has a weak focus-inducing activity in transfected
            NIH 3T3 cells.  A DNA rearrangement, which occurrs during
            transfection, is probably responsible for activation of the mas
            gene.  The mas gene may be the first of a new functional class of
            oncogenes.
            The first 253 nucleotides are from DNA and the rest from cDNA.
