            The first 70 and last 355 nucleotides in the sequence presented
            below were derived from DNA.  The normal human SIS/PDGF2 coding
            sequence has the capacity to efficiently transform cells responsive
            to its growth-promoting activity.  The SIS/PDGF2 mRNA has been
            detected in tumors such as glioblastomas and fibrosarcomas, whose
            normal counterparts possess PDGF receptors and are responsive to
            the growth-promoting action of the SIS/PDGF2 gene product.
