apoptosis induced by growth factor (IL-3) withdrawal in
pre-B cell transfectants. Survivin expression is
                     developmentally regulated: present during fetal
development but undetectable in terminally differentiated
normal adult tissues, survivin is abundantly expressed in
transformed cell lines and in all the most common solid
cancers and in 50% of high-grade non Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The coding strand of the survivin gene product is highly
homologous and complementary to the sequence of Effector
cell Protease Receptor-1 (EPR-1) encoded by GenBank

specific probes identify two separate mRNA transcripts for
EPR-1 and survivin with distinct molecular sizes and
non-overlapping distribution in fetal and adult tissues"
